Obituaries
WILMINGTON--Edward Keith Hildebrand, age 51, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 20, 1956 in Charlottesville, Va., the son of Edward Hilb and Joanne Lavon Breeden Hildebrand. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carl and Anna Breeden and his paternal grandparents, Hunter and Ramona Hildebrand.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his loving wife of thirteen years, Dianne Pickett Hildebrand of the home; two sons, Joshua Hildebrand and Ethan Hildebrand; two daughters, Hannah Hildebrand and Sarah Hildebrand all of the home; a brother, Kevin Lee Hildebrand of Wash. D.C.; and other extended family who loved Keith.
Hildebrand graduated from Charlottesville High School and worked for both the City of Charlottesville and General Electric before moving to Wilmington in the late 1980s. He was employed with The Pantry at the 17th Street location in Wilmington and was a member of Livingston Tabernacle. He was held in high regard by officers of Wilmington Police Department. Hildebrand was a Godly man who served and loved his Lord and his family with unceasing devotion. With his great sense of humor, warm heart and gentle spirit he brought joy to all who knew him. He was unselfish and always caring of others, even those beyond his family. He had a passion for Cavalier sports and could tell you statistics that only their number one fan would know. He loved cooking and experimenting with different recipes for his family’s enjoyment. He worked tirelessly to support his family. Cherished memories of him will remain in our hearts, forever.

BURGAW--Mary Elizabeth Bland Randles, age 75, died Friday, July 18, 2008, at her residence.
She was born Sep. 5, 1932, in Arapahoe, the daughter of Annie Green Bland of Watha and the late Jodie A. Bland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest A. Randles; a son, Richard Randles; three sisters and three brothers.
Randles was a loving and caring person. She created a home filled joy and sunshine where everyone was welcome. She was an excellent cook and set a bountiful table, she always had room for one more. Randles found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family, especially her grandchildren who she adored. All of her life she loved the Lord, cared for her family, worked hard and was a friend to many. Cherished memories of her will forever remain in our hearts.
Survivors include loving mother and devoted family; her children, Charlotte Robinson and husband Hunter of Rocky Mount; Glen Randles and wife Lora of Wrightwood Calif., Jodie Randles and wife Robin of LaVerne Calif. and Dale Randles and wife Shirley of Burgaw; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers, David Bland of Watha, Cecil Bland and wife Dorothy of Burgaw and Billy Bland of Fayetteville; four sisters, Lessie Bishop of Hope Mills, Annie Mae Bland of Burgaw, Judy Bland of Washington and Rosa Lee Sanders of Burgaw; and many nieces and nephews.
Final rites were held Monday, July 21, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Rev. William Hill Pearsall and Sandra Davis officiating. Burial followed in King Family Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Jason Randles, Tracy Mariani, Chad Randles, Cody Randles, Timothy Bishop and Ray Bland.

JACKSONVILLE-- Olivia Jordan Lyon, age 88, passed away peacefully with her two daughters by her side, Monday, July 21, 2008, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter and now Olivia is with her Lord and Savior.
She was born in Pender County May 7, 1920, the daughter of the late George Fred and Maybelle Batson Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bryant Hanchey in 1958 and she later married Royce Lyon who died in 1997. She was also predeceased by her brother, George Jordan.
Survivors include her daughters, Ann Hanchey and Sue H. Tysinger and her husband, Andy, all of Wilmington; brothers, Harry Jordan (Louise) of Burgaw and Paul Jordan (Fay) of Erwin; sister, Dorothy Barnes of Colerain and several nieces and nephews.
Lyon was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served the Lord and her church in many capacities. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed. She was known for her beautiful rose gardens.
Final rites will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 23 (today), at Jordan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in the original church sanctuary with Reverends William Hill Pearsall and Alice Quarles officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
